My own doodles when i was (much) younger
 

here are a few pictures i drew when i was younger. lates teens into early twenties period.

those who know their comics will recognise the sources of my artwork.

for those who don't, i'll explain.
these are not original artwork. neither are they simply "traced work".

what i did was to draw, from scratch, the comic i was looking at.

so i had the comic in front of me. then, with a simple pencil and a blank piece of A4 paper, started drawing the image i was looking at.

a "reproduction" then? maybe so.

a "trace" of a picture - no. i put in a lot of time, effort & energy into drawing these.

so, with all that said, hopefully you will look at my work a bit kindly.

i had lots of others, but during my school days i'd give them away to friends.

i never took my artwork too seriously.
and never took it a stage further.
who knows, perhaps i might have had a reasonable career out of my "skill"?

Very nice. I'm an inker by hobby. I used to ink a friend's pencils, back in the day.
I have some samples somewhere.

you an inker eh?
we could have teamed up and taken marvel / dc / image by storm!
perhaps in the next lifetime?
better yet, in a parallel universe?

a question for you all: is my artwork reasonable enough for you to recognise the characers i'm drawing?

ok some of the characters will be tough to name.
i myself cannot remember / recognise some of the baddies in picture 3!

but generally, do the main characters look like who they're supposed to be?

You are an artist for sure! All of them have a classic look like from the 80's or 90's. You should make your own comics or draw for marvel or dc.

Yeah, your style is very early 90s, as is mine.
I did some pencils myself, but it was not as good as my friend's or yours.
I tried my hand at ink coloring, too -- results varied. My biggest issue is that I didn't have the right pens, as they cost far too much. I have pens now, however, and pencils. And I bought some JLU color books. I'm wanting to scan the images, add pencil, add ink to make them look more comic book like, and then ink color it, too. I may try my hand at computer coloring, but not at first.

This site has to be finished, as well as my DVD sets, before I can move back to my art projects.

perhaps i could get into comicbook art late in life?

i know it will take a lot of effort & commitment.
need to learn all the tricks of the trade from scratch.
and then develop my own style.
and of course, draw, draw and draw again until i perfect my technique.

well, one never knows.
lets see what happens.

Very cool, I have a bunch of old doodles as well, I need to share.
My style is more 70's because I was a Bronze age child. :)

Nice, I ll have to post my 17 yr old anime art . She s very good for her age :-)
