Reliable Site for Episode Info- Help?
Everytime I get an older show in, I struggle to label correctly. I do know how to google, but I find conflicting episode information often. Does anyone know of a reliable site/source for older shows -
I recently got in a batch of beta tapes with OLD stuff on it- I am creating sets, and importing recordings in- and want to label as correct as I can. To give an example of shows- Kraft mystery theater Turnabout Sister Kate Double Trouble 321 contacts madams place thats incredible my living doll any help is appreciated |
It really depends on the show.
Most times I use www.epguides.com Sometimes Wikipedia. Sometimes random sites found via Google. And sometimes I have to make my own. |
Depend on which era you are looking for, I find mostly I have to create my own episode guides, as a lot of them are too unreliable and i prefer to go with continuity then by air date. tv.com is ok for it, but as its user edited its not a reliable source, the same is for wikipedia. epguides and pazaz.com is good sources for episode guides, searching the internet is another way of getting the info, fan sites I find can give reliable information.
Recently i downloaded an episode guide program application for the mac and its downloads the episode guides you need from www.thetvdb.com. it's called tvseries and its very good info to have for any set creator. i found this to be a very reliable source and it also has old tv series - http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=71660&lid=7 - the living doll. |
Thanks---both are helpful posts...ninja your right most of this stuff, I bet no one had TO make an ep guide..maybe I need to just do it myself-
this batch of stuff I got into---so far I have found FLO complete, and made a set- double trouble complete, and even a rare cartoon the flintstones meet the THING- so exciting to see such new stuff! |
One of my favorites is The Classic TV Archive. In addition to info from individuals, it also references Library of Congress and UCLA Film and Television Archive, etc. Quite often I have seen synopsis' taken directly from TV Guide issues.

AH, CJ beat me to it since I was about to add CTVA. A very thorough source for old series and as far as I can tell, entirely accurate. I use it often in my frequent searches for tv series when tv was actually fun to watch for the whole family. The 70s, 80s & 90s brought us an awful lot of bad tv. A writers' strike resulting in reality tv and before that, U.S. sit coms brought us humorous punch lines we could predict before they were spoken. The 50s & 60s were the period and CTVA covers it well.

Thanks!
Helped with quite a few, have it tagged for the future. Hoping to release quite a few rare series to the community through contests, trades and chains this year...already closed off 16 complete series, that I never thought I would fine, let alone complete. Just love this hobby. |
