Yearly Christmas Specials

Started off the yearly Christmas specials last night. Up first was a special I have watched every year since it first aired on prime Time TV in 1983, Mickey's Christmas Carol. To mark the 30th anniversary, I got to watch it in beautiful blu-ray for the first time. Nice to see it cleaned up and restored, and treated with the dignity and respect it deserves, in which many call the last great Mickey-Donald-Goofy animated classic. This also marked the debut of the character which would be known as Scrooge McDuck. It was paired with some great Disney cartoons, which also looked awesome, like "Pluto's Christmas Tree" and Goofy starring in "The Art of Skiing". Would have been nice to have a documentary or behind the scenes look, but I enjoyed this immensely nonetheless. http://www.tvpast.org/forum/images/cache/2013/12/1.png |
Christmas Specials continue for the second night.....
http://www.amazon.com/Peanuts-Holida.../dp/B005BXY1QK A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) This is probably the only animated special that will ever rival Mickey's Christmas Carol for me, if only even based on the face it will mark it's 50th year in 2015. However the biggest scene stealer will always be Linus explaining the meaning of Christmas to Charlie Brown: Quote:

Frosty The Snowman (1969) Another original classic starring the late great Jackie Vernon as Frosty, who would also go on and star in the two inferior sequels of Frosty in the seventies. No one will ever forget his first words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!", but my favorite part is the little kid who gave his opinion on what to name Frosty...."OATMEAL!" That being said, the greatest part of this 43 year old classic is our character/narrator and singer, with his unique gravelly voice, the last great Jimmy Durante: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002051/ I refuse to listen to the classic song unless Jinny Durante sings it, because I believe it is his and his alone to sing. RIP to two great men who helped bring the world's favorite snowman to life! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDNcJL90Y9A http://www.tvpast.org/forum/images/cache/2013/12/4.jpg |
Good morning: You remind me of a Christmas special my wife has longed to acquire on dvd for years ... Mole's Christmas. She especially likes the pastel colours in the artistry. If anyone knows where I could buy or trade for this disc, PLEASE let me know. It would be a delightful surprise in her stocking.
