WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and his son Daniel were found dead today in their Atlanta home.

WWE.com reported the story moments ago on their website. Benoit, 40, missed a Saturday night house show and last night's pay-per-view in order to return home to Atlanta.

PWTorch.com can confirm through sources that Benoit's death is real and not part of a worked WWE storyline.

WWE has announced plans to scrap tonight's scheduled "Vince McMahon memorial" storyline on WWE Raw, and will address Benoit's death on the program.

No further details are available at this time.

In tragic news out of Atlanta, Ga., Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel were all found dead in their homes today.

WWE Raw will be a tribute to Benoit. All previous plans for Raw have been scraped.

UPDATE: Daniel was their only child together. He was about seven years old. Says one friend: "Chris and Nancy were known to have a volatile relationship, but their son was the saving grace for both of them."

Benoit has another son from his previous marriage who is in Canada at this time.

UPDATE: Benoit was scheduled to wrestle in Beaumont, Tex., but WWE personnel were told he missed the show due to a family member being sick. He was last seen by WWE personnel at last week's TV tapings.

We will continue to update the story.

UPDATE: A decision was made just a few minutes ago to cancel the live show tonight in Corpus Christi, Tex. Fans will be sent home. Wrestlers are being allowed to leave and mourn.

UPDATE: Vince McMahon broke the news to the wrestlers backstage about the death of Chris Benoit and his family.

One wrestler who was present tells PWTorch that everyone was gathered for an urgent, impromptu gathering backstage. McMahon then explained the basics - that Chris Benoit and his wife and won were found dead. He didn't elaborate or provide any details, and may not have known any more himself. "I've never seen a locker room floored like that. Seventy percent of everyone was just floored like I've never seen before. Everyone is just sad. He was well-liked by everyone. No one ever had a bad word for him. He and Bobby Eaton, that's what people say about those two."

He added: "He never complained about sh-- (in his personal life), but lately it always looked like something wasn't sitting right with him inside, like something was eating at him."

There are no police reports yet confirming the backstage info circulating that they all died of gunshot wounds.

Some reports have stated that he didn't go to the PPV because the family was ill and 'spitting up blood'. They are also reporting that its being investigated as a murder-suicide, but I've not seen that on too many reports.
