hey SA,
I am an avid collector of 3d. Ok here is the rundown. You can get that set for cheaper (more on that later)
The type of 3d this produces is commonly known as "lcd shutter". Similiar to imax, these glasses are electronic and plug(unless you have wire-less) into a little box. Pretty much you put the film in yur dvd player, you run the video out of the dvd player into the box and then that goes into your tv/vcr,etc.
The results are outstanding. Haunted castle was amazing. Keep note that lcd produces more flicker but it is not that distracting.
Many films have since been available in bootleg format for lcd shutter. I have a bunch of them. You also have to be aware that some films that were never made in 3d (like monster from a prehistoric planet) have been marketed and transfered to 3d using this system. The 2d-3d transfers look like crap. Stick with films that are the real deal.
Although not 100% positive, I am pretty sure this lcd set might have an issue with an lcd/hi-def tv due to refresh rates.

they sell many 3d products and actually helped produce the set your are looking at. They can answer all questions about compatibility with newer tv's or what can be done to still view them on the newer formats.
