Geocities closing

I figured it would happen eventually -- free websites are going to die more and more as years go by, it's just too costly. The dot-net bubble that created most of those free-site services died a decade ago, and it's a money pit for them. Most free hosts I used in the past, in the 90s, are already gone. The unreliable nature of them is why I got my own hosting and domains long ago.

Geocities is going the way of Yahoo Auctions awhile back...First yahoo chat, then Yahoo auctions, now, Geocities. What happened to the days when yahoo had a thriving online community and FREE services :(

Everybody and their mother are on forums, MySpace, Facebook etc etc...

I've even contemplated closing my webpage.

Myspace and Twitter are fads. Myspace is already dead, Twitter will be next in a year or two.

Well,
My Space has been a useful tool finding old friends and promoting any of my bands.
