Taiyo Yuden 4X-R discs

I mistakely burned some six TY 4X-R discs at 8X. They all verified properly and Nero CDscan shows the disc has no problems. Can you burn TY 4X at higher speeds? When I check it with Nero CD Scan it says 2X-12X, when I burn with Decryptor it says these 4X discs supports 2X,4X,6X,8X,12X. I always thought that it was bad for the disc or could damage it if you burned a higher speed than what it was made for? Does anyone know?

I've noticed that the TY discs are always able to burn higher than what the actual write strategy is. Not always a good idea though. Take the TYG02 for example. You can't go above 6X on them or you get bad burns mixed in with good ones. However, at 6X, never any bad burns.

The TY 4X-Rs read as TYG03, I believe TYG02 are supposed to be 8X. Nero & Deccryptor says these TYG03 will burn at 2X-16X with this recorder when I check them. I've been burning them at 6X speed now and all verify with DVD Decyptor and when I check them with Nero CDspeed surface scan they don't show any problems. Should I be concerned or will I have any problems later??? It would be great to pay for only 4X discs and be able to burn them like 8X.

TY media should burn fine at the rated speed. Some of them are even fine faster. I routinely burn YUDEN DVD+R discs anywhere from 4x-12x, and they are "officially" rated as 8x. The TY DVD-R discs should be fine at 4x-6x-8x-12x-16x. Just test a couple out, see what strikes you as the best burn speed for your burner. I've got a Pioneer 109 and would not hesitate at all to burn them at the rated speed.

Weird thing about these TY 4X-R is that they burn great, but they won't work in by JVC DVD recorder, why the TY 8X-R do. Anyone have an idea as to why this is?

The TYG03 are 16X TY media. If you paid 4X prices for them, you got real lucky :)

TYG03 is what Nero CDspeed and DVD Decryptor say. Still won't work in my JVC DVD recorder.
