I just heard on the CBS news...George Lindsey passed away today in Nashville, TN, after a short illness. George was best known for his character 'Goober Pyle' on 'The Andy Griffith Show'...he continued the role on 'Mayberry, R.F.D.' and 'Hee Haw'.

Thanks for the laughs, George! Rest in Peace.

he also appeared in probably the most memorable episode of Alfred Hitchcock Hour, called "The Jar". Appearances in many other shows and movies, such as NewsRadio, The Twilight Zone, Hollywood Squares, You Don't Say, and the Cannonball Run II, among many others.
