i think i may have bought a bootleg justice league unlimited boxset.

does anyone on this forum have a legitimate version of this set?

if so, please check and let me know whether the discs are dual layered or single layered.

the set i have are all single layered.
i think this is wrong because i've seen others like JL Season 1 which was dual layered.

for my eyes, the data side of the discs look like retail ones. sort of shiny metallic whereas the rewritable ones are darker.
the cartoons on playback look good - ie smooth and no macro blocks.
so from that, these might be the real deal?
did WB re-do the set on SL to save money?

i have emailed WB and asked them whether the discs are SL or DL. god knows if and/or when they will reply.

at the end of the day, things aren't that bad as i only paid a small amount for it and still have a chance to return it.

so, if someone here has the set, please check it and get back to me.
many thanks.

does the boxset look like the one in the pictures on the listings? i bought this when it came out and all dvds were exactly the same as the season set releases except for the extra dvd they added with it. all episodes were on one side of each dvd if that is what you want to know.

ty3, yes the boxset i bought is like the one on amazon. mine has 15 discs - 15th being the bonus disc. also have the episode guide booklets inside the dvd cases.

would you please look at 1 or 2 discs and check the size?
are they DL (single sided, dual layered) - about 6GB or 7GB?
or are they SL (single sided, single layered) - about 4GB?

see, i did use to have the older single releases - like JL Season 1 on 2 discs.
from memory, that set was DL - about 7GB or thereabouts.

so, now when i see this complete boxset on SL discs - well, i'm flummoxed.
it has left me wondering whether it is bootleg, factory rejects or have WB cut costs?

for a cartoon, i suppose SL discs will be ok.
tho, one disc, the one with 8 episodes including "Starcrossed" runs for 3 hours.
3 hours worth of video on a SL disc? hmmmm, bitrates have to be lowered.
then again, from what i see, with my eyesight, the cartoons seem fine.

so, please check the size and let me know.

thank you.

aha, thought so.

have to say, the set i bought looks pretty good.
most people would have been fooled by it.
it may well be a case of factory reject as opposed to bootleg.
so, i'm not going to accuse the seller of being nefarious.
it was only a small amount i paid and i'll work with the seller to get my money back.

on a wider note: everyone should double check their purchases - even from reputable online sellers - as things can fall through the cracks. it is easy for mistakes to happen when people are dealing with millions of transactions.

so always be on the lookout.

If you are able, please take sample photos and perhaps scan one of the discs (top and underside). Then when you get the legit set, we'll be able to do a proper comparison and post the differences like I did with the other sets. thanks if you can.

lordsmurf and other mods - i've scanned the boxset - 18 jpgs - 21M in total - some are 1700 x 1100 pixels. so, what is the simplest way to upload this?

or do i make it smaller - say to 700 x 450 pixels - and then upload it?
