its selling for about $77 / £58 on amazon.

quite pricey - but it is 1192 pages!
and the re-colouring/colouring update has boosted the artwork greatly.

thor's best run - best writing - best storylines - and pretty good artwork as well.

i have the original run.
but i'm sorely tempted to splash out for this omnibus hardcover version as well!

I would buy something like this only if it were digital, for maybe $30, so I could read it without having to cram my shelves full of more books. I'm already trying to downsize "stuff" space as it is. Reading comics on the iPad helps with that. Comics companies are making the same mistake the music industry did with MP3. Yes, people will share online, without paying for it, but those were not buyers anyway, and many of us have no problems paying fair funds for quality digital products.

I also really don't like holding textbook-sized comics.

I wish the 1980s-90s Transformers comics would get this treatment!

I've been hovering on the buy button since this was released. Preventing me is the same thing as LS - too much shelf space. But it sure does look pretty. Here's the original and new art for the page above.

is this the comics equivalent of going from dvd to bluray ?!

I guess it is.
