I was absolutely shocked.

The pilot for "MY NAME IS EARL" is actually 24:55 long without commercials. I've not seen a show this long in many years now. I wish more shows did this... more show, less commercials.

Yeah, but it was just a one-time thing. Episode 2 was 21:35 and Episode 3 was 21:48.

Pilots tend to go odd times these days. The WB is notorious for running pilots in a 65-minute time slot, with footage not shown in later airings.

I'm working on converting a show from the early '80s right now - clocking in at nearly 48 minutes per episode after commercials are removed. Nowadays an hour show is anywhere from 41 to 45 minutes, including "previously" and "next time" segments.
