Man Ruined Super Bowl for 8,300 Fans
BRENTWOOD, Calif. — Police have arrested a man on suspicion of crashing his car and causing a power outage that disrupted the Super Bowl for thousands of football fans.
Luis Mendoza, 31, was arrested on misdemeanor driving under the influence charges for allegedly running into a power pole and short-circuiting TV reception for 8,300 customers in Brentwood during the final minutes of the Super Bowl. Mendoza was arrested at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he was being treated for leg injuries. Football fans missed the final two touchdowns that led to the New York Giants' upset of the New England Patriots. Pacific Gas & Electric says all but 23 customers got their electricity back within two hours of Sunday's accident. |
