Need Xvid Mpeg 4 codec (need help)
So I received a bunch of episodes from someone on disc and they're all avi files. It doesn't matter what I use whether it be Windows Media Player, Power DVD or even TMPG DVD Author 3 it says I need a codec. So after doing some research I figured out that I need Xvid Mpeg 4 codec.
Any help is appreciated. |

Watch them using VLC.
If you really need a system-wide codec, download the XVID codec. It's freeware. I've attached the executable (inside a RAR archive) to this post. Download and install. :) |
Thanks for the link
Edit: OK this is my first time dealing with codecs so I've downloaded and installed is there anything else I need to do? |
Nothing else, you're done. It should play in PowerDVD and WMP now, I hope.
VLC is still a better player, however!!! Get it @ http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html |
It still doesn't play and I can't even open it with TMPG DVD Author 3 either.
EDIT: OK scratch that I rechecked everything and they work now. Thanks |

I'll have to check that out tomorrow because I have a few more files that only play audio now.

I highly suggest against codec packs. They are well known for hosing computers.
