Laptop out to DVD recorder In?

My laptop does not have an S-video out. My DVD recorder has an S-Video in with the stero jacks as well as DV-In. Is there a cable that converts from HDMI to DV-In or USB to DV-In? The DV-In is supposed to be for camcorders, I was wondering if I could use my laptop in this fashion?

No, none of those.

"DV-In" is nothing more than a Firewire 400 a.k.a. IEEE1394. It's a data port, not a display port. The DV cameras send file data across that connection, not visual information.

The best thing that I've seen are some USB2 adapters that give you VGA out. But quality may not be great, and the devices can be expensive ($50+). There are also some devices that convert VGA to composite (or s-video).

Check out these devices from Meritline:
