Help, Loud screeching noise on audio

Ive recently started to restore some vr troopers episodes, but i am having trouble with a sound i get and i dont know if it can be fixed or if i have done something wrong.

Ive been using Adobe soundbooth CS5, on the episode before i put any effects to fix the problems i get a hiss, along with low sound (no loud screeching noise).

When i put on the noise effect to fix the hiss, i tried 100 High and 30db, i tried different settings and its still the same. then i put the effect to equilize the volume levels. Then once ive done that filter i hear the Loud screeching noise very clearly.

What have i done wrong and how can i fix this? appreciate any help, the sooner the better so i can move on. thanks..

probably going to help better if you post a small sample

Is it a Banshee? :P Try Sony Sound Forge instead

Sounds like a Frequency issue. What did you save it as?

Try a compressor limiter plugin for your adobe. Sony has them too. Yes, I love sony products lol
Can you re-open the original file start over. Or did you over write the original???? yikes....http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Soundboo...D5A556E6a.html

Plugins are your friend :P

i wish it was a banshee, at least they are easy to do deal with, earmuffs. lol!

I always keep the original untill i fix any problems it has, i normally save it as a new audio file. but i get the sound when i am using soundbooth, before i save it, as i am testing how it plays.

Don't know the best way to show the audio files here on the forum, but i will look at doing that so you guys hear the difference, i will also try that dynamics effect for the compressor.

any other tips or solutions will be helpful, i will try anything to fix the problem.

You can just do a small sample and then upload it to like megaupload or something..

You can upload 8MB files to this site. That should be plenty enough for a good audio sample. (The ability to attach larger files is pending.)

Don't use megaupload, etc -- nobody likes to wait on those slow sites, which fill your screen with ads, and throw up cookies on your computer like a hungover Cookie Monster.
