What is the best screen capture program available for Windows 7? I want one that can capture videos, video games, and VirtualBox. Basically, any program I can use on my PC, including in full screen. I tried using HyperCam but it won't install.

I am curious for recommendations too, but looks like there arent any members who do screen capture or are willing to share their knowledge, judging by the lack of response.

Corel Video Studio Pro X5 works great. It can capture part of the screen or full screen.

thanks, I'll look into it. I suspect most screen capture programs require a fairly fast PC, which might be the problem I've had with some free screen capture programs on my old PC.

That must something new to X5 because I have X3 and I can't capture the screen.

Try Camtasia, version 7.0 (there is a version 8 out also)
but be warned, it uses a lot of resources & not recommended for an older slower machine

Any recommendations for a screen capture program for Windows 95 as well. There are some old Windows 95 video games that I want to capture for a video walkthrough.

I use the Hypercam Media Editor. That's one of the best ones I've found so far. I don't like Camtasia, and I've used several other that just aren't at all as good.

What I like about it are the audio options for recording.

actually I did ask in my thread after you uploaded a screen capture for me, but I didnt get a response; ergo the PMs.

Way back in Win95 I used Microsoft Camcorder. It was free and it worked well, producing an avi of anything on the screen while camcorder itself was minimized. I don't have it anymore and I don't know if it's still available.

Gosh, that was almost 20 years ago! That's like 200 in computer years!

I remember that the output file gets pretty big, pretty fast, but that was in the old days. The output files will probably seem tame by today's standards.

bigk181 - You mentioned full screen and that might be a deal-breaker. I remember when I'd try to capture a game that forced full screen and a resolution change all that got recorded was black screen. I don't know what you'll get, but it's free so perhaps worth looking at.
