Need Help Cropping a Video

I downloaded a tv movie from hulu. It is in 4:3 but has a thin black border all the way around it. A couple of years ago I would have used TMPGenc express for this, but the computer with that software was embedded into a tree. My new system is running Windows 7 and I have Virtual PC with XP mode. What should I use to crop the bars? Is there a version of TMPGenc express that runs in Windows 7? Is there a better program?

i'm not an expert, so take this advice with a pinch of salt. i use ConvertXtoDvd on Win7 x64. it does have the option to crop / remove the black bars. hope this helps.

Thanks, I think that will take care of what I needed.

you'll need to drill down to the resize option, so click all those things i've highlighted in the image, top to bottom, left to right.

then, choose how you want to resize the video. 4:3 or 16:9. padding and/or cropping etc.

if you are making it fullscreen (4:3), it's probably better to uncheck the "show safe area" box so you have a clearer view of the edges.

hope that helps.
