How to unlock Pioneer DVR-109 Rip Speed?

I know afew of the people on the forum have this DVD. The darn thing only rips at less than 2X. I cant figure out how to unlock the speed so it will rip faster. Someone able to guide me through this?
Thanks

thats odd. I have the same burner (with NO modded firmware) and mine rips much faster than 2x.

What is the firmware for your drive? What app are you using to rip? Are you ripping via winaspi or spti?

The firmware is FW158 Newist right off Pioneer sight. I use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0. winaspi or spti?..I dont know what that is. I went to acouple of BBs and there seems to be something with unlocking the speed. Thanks for responding and any help you can offer me.

I believe your problem is that your IDE channel is set to PIO instead of DMA. Verify this first and foremost.

The OEM 109 only rips 2x. It requires a hack, and I don't suggest hacks.
The retail A09 rips 16x.

For ripping needs, I suggest you just buy a normal DVD-ROM. If for no other reason that it puts less wear on the writer drive.

Agreed. My rom drive is on its way out (atl east I think so), so sometimes if I have an issue ripping a disc (or file from it), I will put it in my burner drive to make sure its not an actual disc error. However that is the ONLY time I would ever consider using your burner drive to rip a dvd
