motion menu Q

i did a background motion menu recently
a 4 min clip

dvdlab pro 2 took about an hour to render the motion menu!

so my quesiotn is how long does Ulead DVD Workshop 2 take to do a similar length motion menu?

DVD Lab was likely doing things it should not, as usual. I'm not a fan of that software. It has a really subpar encoder, whereas DVDWS2 uses the high-grade MainConcept 1.4 engine.

On my computer, a 4-minute menu might take 15-30 minutes of encoding time, for a total of 30-45 minutes of authoring time to create the folder set. Burning, which I do in a separate application (ImgBurn or RecordNow Max) takes abother 15 minutes on a 4x burn.

On my computer, using TDA v3.0, it takes about 30 minutes to encode a 4 minute motion menu.

Was there anything unusual about the 4 min clip? High bit rate?

yeah maybe bitrate was a tad high. i'll test out DVDWS2 over the weekend and see for myself. thanks gang.
