Weekend Box Office: "Persepolis" Raises Profile
 

Alvin and the Chipmunks grossed $2.75 million at North American box offices over the weekend, giving the Fox film a gross-to-date of $207.6 million, according to weekend estimates. Overseas, the film took in $5.1 million for a foreign cumulative of $113.0 million.

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything raised its cumulative haul to $11.2 million with weekend booty of $589,000. Persepolis, which nearly doubled its theater count over the weekend, grossed $404,000 for a total gross of $3.7 million.
