Thinking of getting an antenna...
 

No hope of cable any time soon, and we get really bad reception with the rabbit ears. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I've never had trouble with rabbit ears living in a city, although I have to use the larger ones. When I lived outside the city, antenna was weak. I had to get satellite or cable or do without.

They have devices that plug into the electric of your house that make you home wiring a big antenna. You can put a massive antenna inside your attic (but not on the roof). If you install a big antenna, it's a lightning magnet, remember that.
