Does anyone know how to make anamorphic DVDs?
I've been wondering about this for a long time, I have absolutely no idea how to do this, or how to encode it to make it anamorphic. The only thing I can do is add blocks to fit in "full screen" etc.
|
DVD only supports two aspect ratios... 16:9 and 4:3
Anything not fitting that exact dimension is padded with black in a matte. For example, Justice League S2 release, is not an exact 16:9, it's bigger, and the video is matted into a 4:3 aspect video stream. |
So how should I encode this anamorphic AVI?
|
Matte it out to 4:3
TMPGEnc Plus does it automatically for you. I think Procoder 2 will do it automatically too. |
Hmm, I don't think I understand what you mean by matte it out. (Using TMPEGnc PLUS). Am I supposed to use the CLIP FRAME? or the Aspect Ratio as you input the file? (4:3 Display)

Animorphic is okay for you wealthy folks with BIG SCreen Tv's. [88]
But for the rest of the free world . Who only has 19 TV in their homes. It's a complete waste. Just do it 16:9 if your going to be artsy about it [:p];) Less headache's too. Easy done in Tmpeg plus. Instead of 4 :3 aspect select 16:9 DVD Personally, I prefer 4:3 I like to see the entire screen of what I m watching.. :D Now back to work management [}:)];)[x2x][88] |
tmpgenc takes takes a year to convert something to anamorphic widescreen. Use a different program if you can. There should always be options for converting to 16:9

What is your source? What are you attempting to do?
You must have widescreen content (true widescreen content, not partial widescreen), and 16:9 has to be used, and it only matters on a widescreen tv. What tv do you want to watch this on? |
It's an AVI source, it has been cut into "widescreen" content, and I want to keep it widescreen when viewing on widescreen tvs, along with having blocks at the bottom and top when viewing in a full-screen tv.
640x336 is the resolution its in, I'm not sure if that's considered widescreen. There's also another file I have, and the resolution is is 512x288. I also wanted to learn how to do anamorphic also, so this will help me in any other project. I have no idea what to convert it in. |
