my friend has a gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mobo. he wants to get a compatible cpu to fit the mobo.
i have seen the cpu supported list from gigabyte's site. i want to double check with you people whether my friend has to be aware of any issues. for example, does it matter about the contacts between the cpu and the mobo being different? i'm trying to describe those "tab-like" things on the cpu and on the mobo for intel stuff. whereas for amd, they're pins & holes. so does my friend have to get exactly the matching tabs on the cpu & mobo, or doesn't the "tabs" come into it?

see those "tab" like things? well the gigabyte mobo has only got 3 or 4! so does it matter whether my friend gets matching "tabs" or not?
