Actor Tom Bosley passed away Tuesday morning at a hospital in Rancho Mirage, Calif., according to TMZ.His rep told TMZ Tom "died of natural causes or specifically, from a brief battle with lung cancer."
Bosley's "Happy Days" co-stars Henry Winkler (Fonzie) and Scott Baio (Chachi) were shocked when they heard about Bosley’s death, but shared some words with TMZ about the TV dad.
"I saw him before I ever got to Hollywood on Broadway, and he was great. And then I got to act with him for 10 years and he was great,” Winkler recalled. "Tom Bosley was our mentor. He was a true artist ... a great husband, and a fabulous father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten."
Scott Baio chimed in with his feelings on the loss of one of his mentors.
"He was a good man who taught me a lot about the business and business itself,” Baio said. “He was a professional guy ... I'm sad."
Bosley was 83 years old.
