Peter Falk Dead at 83

Actor Peter Falk, best known for his role in “Columbo” has died at 83 years old. His family released a statement confirming his passing.
"Falk died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home in the evening of June 23, 2011,”
the statement read.
During a 2009 hearing to place an ailing Falk in a conservatorship, Dr. Stephen Read
testified that following a string of dental surgeries in 2007, the actor slipped into dementia and that his conditions eventually worsened to the point that he could no longer remember his iconic and recognized role (with four Emmy wins) as Lieutenant Columbo. His wife Shera Falk was put in control of his personal care and affairs.
