I recently lost my voice on Friday. And was wondering if anybody on the board had any remedies or therapies for laryngitis?

I'm suddenly reminded of some old dirty jokes from high school.
Usually the question asker is female, however. Or a fruity guy. Either one.

Anyway... RICOLA! ... and I'm being serious. I sucked down bags of those in Canada and Alask.
That dry cold air would make me hoarse in minutes. Lost my voices 2-3 times in 3 months.

Some Halls menthol lyptus drops are good too.
Reminds me of another joy-bringing joke (true one, FYI, I proved it more than once).
But seriously, those can help not over-used (take too many, they lose effect).

Milk feels good, but it usually not good for you when sick.
Ice ream is just as bad.
Yogurt can go either way.

There's some throat-coating goo you can buy near the Robitussin.

Gargling warm salt water can also help alleviate pain, and restore the chords.

Tea, lemon juice (or orange juice if you prefer) and honey can help, too. They'll help soothe the throat. I recommend decaf or herbal so you don't amp yourself up on caffeine - the one thing that you need the most when you're sick is rest.

Wasn't there something you could add to a hot rag, that you wrap around your throat??
A Brady Bunch episode??

My friend says, menthol and heat, around the throat- and as much moisture as you can breath in, and drink.

Never had it- but I hope you feel better soon

well, my voice is getting better. Not quite to 100% yet. I've been trying a honey-ginger mixture with hot water and that's been helping. Thanks to everybody for their cures.

The cure must be Menthol! If CP says no, it must be yes. If CP says stop, you must go! Simple laws of the Universe. I don't make them up, they are just law.
