Starting SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27th at Best Buy, Verbatim 16x 25-packs of DVD-R and DVD+R are on sale for $7.99 each (or maybe it was $6.99 each). These are the high grade Mitusbishi MCC discs.

Anyway, I saw the sale ad early, thought I'd share.

I'll avoid the stupid crowds this weekend and pick up good media for a good price come Monday afternoon. This is a weekly ad/sale for next week, good through Dec 3rd.

edited to add store name

Verbatim MCC media is made in Taiwan.
Not all Taiwanese media is bad. Some of it, like MCC, is very good.

Ive just had bad luck with DVD-Rs that have been Made in Taiwan, like Sony, Fujifilm, and TDK. So I will gladly pick up four or maybe more of these since you recommend them

Brent, just order from www.supermediastore.com. Taiyo Yuden 4X -Rs discs are cheaper ($28.99 per 100pk)than most of these sales and they cerify they are from Japan. These discs are TYG 03 and burn and verify great at 6X.

The only retail store sale I saw that has even come close is the Office Depot sale on Maxell 8X $4.99 for a 25 pk. I had to search hard for Japan made discs and I'm still not sure they are. Frankly, the hassle just isn't worth it.

The reason I buy branded media in stores, and not the shiny silver Taiyo Yuden discs online, is because the shiny surfaces are fingerprint magnets, harder to write on, and just generally look sort of crappy. Just my personal preference. It's only a dollar or two more to buy the MCC discs for $32 for 100 discs, so I do it gladly. Plus I've personally had some issues burning TY DVD-R discs, so I tend to avoid them.

As soon as I saw it thats what i thought. My dad got them cause they were abit cheaper. Just trying to help heh. So he said he'd return them

Hey Smurf with the equipment I use. the Panasonic. I am thinking of trying to use DL media. What i want to do is take say my Ghost Hunter Season One set which has two eps per DVD. Using Sonic Record Now can I just add in one Audio_TS and the two Video_Ts to be burnt to one DL DVD-R media. Would it work that way or not??

You must have a DL recorder to record DL. You don't have one. Statistically speaking, you'll get about 1-2 bad discs per spindle of 25 (95% of 100 discs). And it's still going to be 1ST CLASS quality media. Nothing is perfect, but it does get rather close.

If the MCC discs puke in your Panasonic, or your computer DVD burner, make sure you've got newer firmware. Newer discs need newer firmware.
