good people, me mum wants to upgrade to a LCD telly.
something in the sub £1000 price range.
any ideas what would be a good make/model for that kind of moolah?

any help/ideas given will be appreciated.

Be sure the 4:3 is not overly squished on whatever you get. My friend got a great Samsung LCD, but his 4:3 image is too thin. So everybody is either too thin or too fat.

Also watch the response time the faster the response time the better. They do make them in 5 miliseconds now...I would definately not get above an 8 milisecond response time. Standard TVs have a 3 to 5 milisecond response time to give you an idea of what you are use to viewing.

Some companies that may be worth looking into are Westinghouse, Sony, and Sharp. Also keep in mind that many of these companies re-brand the same tvs under other names for cheaper prices...most of the time you really have to dig to get that info though.

ta guys. the salesman at the local sony centre has done a job on my mum and she is convinced about one of the sony bravia models.

well its her money and she is entitled to throw it away as she pleases, right?
