LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Teen star Scout Taylor-Compton, best known for the comedy feature "Sleepover" and her recurring role on "Gilmore Girls," has been confirmed missing.

The 16-year-old actress has been missing from her Apple Valley, California home since Friday, Aug. 12, reports "Extra."

"We sincerely appreciate everyone's attention and concern regarding Scout and are praying for her safe return," says the family's spokesperson. "We have faith in the agencies working on the case and are optimistic that the outcome will be positive."

No further details about her disappearance have been released.

Taylor-Compton, who is named for the young protagonist in Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird," co-starred with "Spy Kids'" Alexa Vega in the scavenger-hunt comedy "Sleepover" in 2004. On TV, she's had recurring roles on "Gilmore Girls," "The Guardian," "Charmed" and "Unfabulous."
