Fanthom aka Surface is probably the best new drama coming out this fall that hasn't premiered yet. Everything else is sort of garbage.

I *really* liked the pilot for Threshold. I'm really looking forward to that. And of the mid-season pilots I've seen so far, Book of Daniel is my favorite. And I'm seriously bummed that The Catch wasn't picked up - we could have had a triple-threat JJ Abrams night going there ...

My recording schedule is:

To disc:
Cold Case
Prison Break
Medium
Gilmore Girls
Supernatural
Bones
House
Lost
Veronica Mars
CSI NY
Invasion
Everwood
Night Stalker
Without a Trace
Invasion
Numb3rs

To tape:
Charmed
Arrested Development
Alias
CSI
Nip/Tuck

I am so relieved that Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, as well as BSG, are going on hiatus shortly. By January, some of what I'm recording should have fallen off the radar, although I have to admit that last season, very little that I was recording didn't make a full season. Of the pilots that I saw before the start of last season, my two favorites - the two shows that haunted me for weeks after I'd seen them - were Lost and Medium.

I'm so glad that I will shortly finish up Higher Ground and this summer's Live 8 coverage, so I can retire that DVR and upgrade to a larger hard drive in a machine capable of recording two stations at once ... this is looking to be a killer season!

I've started to like CSI, the Las Vegas one. After watching so much Dragnet, and then catching some CSI marathons on SPIKE, I'm hooked.

I didn't watch CSI the first two seasons, and then I did a blind buy of the UK DVD release. I meant to watch a few episodes, and the next thing I knew I'd watched the entire season. I've been actively watching the show ever since. This week is the repeat on the 2-hour season finale from last season, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. Good show. I've never been able to get into CSI Miami - I just have never been a fan of David Caruso. I like CSI NY, but I think the original is still the strongest.

Bones is based on the mystery novels of Kathy Reisch, who is a forensic anthropologist as well as a mystery writer. Emily Deschenal stars, along with David "Angel/Angelus" Boreanaz. Who is looking more and more like his dad as he gets older - Boreanaz's dad is the ABC affiliate weatherman here in Philly.

Anyway, Bones is another crime drama with a forensic flavor - the reviews have been good, and I'm a sucker for a good mystery. Plus I'll watch just about anything Boreanaz does.
