One of the local talk shows in Dallas interviewed Don, one of the Masters of Horror. I guess that would be Don Coscarelli. I think the interview was a re-broadcast from Halloween 2005, although I just heard it a couple days ago.

Anyway, he said the name "Masters of Horror" was started in jest, when they (he and other directors) were at some kind of meeting, and some woman (maybe an insignificant stranger?) asked who they were, and one of the guys piped up in a deep voice "We are the Masters of Horror!" and they all had a good chuckle.

During the interview, Don mentioned that horror films are, in the mainstream media, only respected less by pornography. I thought that was kind of sad, given the long and enduring history of the horror genre.

Just thought I'd share.
