Amy Smart has been tapped as the lead in CBS' drama pilot "Meant to Be's," and Fred Savage has landed the lead on another CBS pilot, comedy "Single White Millionaire," lifting the contingency on the project. On the directing side, "Desperate Housewives" helmer Larry Shaw has been tapped to direct CBS' drama pilot "Ny-Lon."

"Meant to Be's," from CBS Paramount and creator Glenn Gordon Caron, is a romantic drama about Janine (Smart), a wealthy young gallery owner in New York who elopes one night only to be thrown from her 40th-floor balcony en route to her honeymoon. She becomes a "Meant to Be," helping people on Earth head in the "meant to be" direction before she can go to heaven.

Smart next will be seen in "Life in Flight," screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, and soon will reprise her role of Eve in the sequel to the indie "Crank." She is repped by Endeavor and Untitled.

"Millionaire," from Warner Bros. and writer Ricky Blitt, is a multicamera comedy about an unassuming millionaire (Savage) in his 30s who is ready to settle down.

Savage most recently starred on ABC's comedy "Crumbs."
