Review of the Rugrats and All Grown Up sets that were mentioned here: http://www.tvpreservation.com/forum/...-and-9837.html.

I received these 2 sets and I wanted to share my views of the sets. The discs are separated by season and I like it when set creators do that. I haven't watched the sets entirely but I have gone through them and checked the quality. It appears that most of the episodes were recorded direct to DVD. The quality is very good but not without a few problems. Some of the episodes on both sets show some occasional pixelation. I believe that this is a result of the videos being compressed to fit more episodes on each disc. I can't verify that, though.

Rugrats
The audio on episode 5 of disc 1 plays faster than the video. Episode 4 of disc 2-1 has a popping sound at the beginning.

All Grown Up
Episode 5 on disc 4 has no audio for a couple seconds at the beginning. That is not a really big deal because it's only a couple of seconds of the intro.

Most of these problems can be ignored. Overall, I'm happy with the quality and I recommend these sets to any Rugrats fans.

I have this set too. Basically some menu issues and some episodes have a person doing sign language. There might be some more instances where an episode title isn't selectable or the selectable episode title plays the wrong episode. It is definitely a good set for any rugrats fan but it can be even better if someone makes their own set out of these sources.

Here's what I noticed:

Rugrats Notes:

Some discs have 5 hours of episodes. Somehow there isn't that much pixellation to the episodes. The audio might be off but with cartoons, its hard to tell.

The spacing of the episode titles on the menus are bad, which means that some titles aren't selectable on a dvd player.

Season 8 disc 2:

23: daddy's little helpers/ Little Dilly audio synced and has chinese girl on the bottom right of the screen doing sign language.

Season 9 disc 1:
4: Happy taffy/ Imagine That: has chinese girl on the bottom right of the screen doing sign language.

5: Bug Off/ The Crawl Space : has chinese girl on the bottom right of the screen doing sign language.

9: Diapes and Dragons/ Baby Power: Audio synced, has white lady on the bottom right of the screen doing sign language. The only way to access this episode is to go to the 9th title using the dvd remote.

Season 9 disc 2:

16: Clown Around/ The Baby Rewards: has chinese girl on the bottom right of the screen doing sign language.

I noticed the menu problems as well. I usually get around them by selecting the previous or next episode then pushing the chapter up or down button on the remote. I haven't seen enough of the episodes to see the ladies doing sign language. I hope that amazon.com keeps releasing retail sets.

The only way I know how to do that is to use the capture option in PowerDVD but that doesn't look good. It's usually ends up darker than it really is.

I thought my friend did a really nice job on the menus. Again I apologize for that one fast audio episode. But yeah it is better than nothing. Davidflecha and BigK are the only 2 who I have traded with, so they're the only 2 that have them. If anyone has any questions ask me or them. Thanks!

It looks like there are some internet downloads in the set but probably not many. The quality is still pretty good on that episode.

Here's some picks of the menus. Taken from power dvd:

I bought season 1 and 2 from someone on eBay for $40 with free shipping. I saved about $25 compared to amazon.com prices.

they can easily be bootlegs sold as original on ebay or anywhere for that matter because the covers are easy to copy and the discs amazon sells is DVD-R not pressed DVDs which to me is horrible. For 30$ each you should get a pressed copy dvd

I bought season 1 & 2 of Who Wants To Be A Superhero? and those are manufactured on demand from amazon.com. I haven't watched the season 2 set but the quality of the little bit I saw of the season 1 set is just as good as any other retail DVD.

I will let you know about the Rugrats DVD's I bought from eBay after I receive them.
