Walt Simonson's run featured the team involved in time travel, wrapping up loose ends from his short run on the Avengers and saw the group team up with Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and The Hulk, who had banded together as the "New Fantastic Four" after the foursome were tricked into thinking the Fantastic Four were dead.

i believe it was issues 347, 348, 349 and maybe 350 of Fantastic Four.
that's the old money issue number, not the new / old / new & old / negative / zero numbering system!

It was 347-349. THANKS! I just bought them from mycomicshop.com for $3 total. I've wanted to read this story arc for 10+ years now, but just could never find out what issues it was, the few times I remembered to look.

I just picked these up a month or so ago from a discount bin. My old copies were destroyed.
Great set of issues. Art Adams art and a weird little story. Spider-Man just recently referenced it when talking to Wolverine in a recent issue of something.

LS,
in case you don't know here is the list of the walter simonson's run on FF:
334, 335, 336 as writer only
337, 338, 339, 340, 341, 343, 344, 345, 346 as writer & artist
347, 348, 349 as writer only
350, 352, 353, 354 as writer & artist
these were some of the most entertaining issues of FF i read. maybe only john byrne's influential run betters it in the modern era.
incidentally 337 was also the issue number of thor that walter started on his magnificent run.
also, tekken1701's signature,"no matter where you go, there you are!", is the title to one of these FF issues! plagiarism is alive & well!
these issues featured the FF (well except in issue 347, 348 & 349), ben grimm in human form, was it ms marvel as a she-thing(!), thor, iron man, deathshead, gladiator, black celestial, galactus, a black hole, time bubble, doom and ... stalin!
great run by the talented mr. simonson. issue 352 is also very craftily out together. like a puzzle.
i suggest you pick up these issues if you haven't read these, and can get them cheaply. don't think you will be dissapointed.
