Earlier in the movie Charles Xavier is telling his students that if a person is ill or dying (something to that effect) is it moral to put another soul in their body and then he gets interrupted when he feels Jean Grey/Phoenix kill Cyclops. At the end of the credits we switch back to that old man and Marueen McTaggert and you hear Patrick Stewarts voice call out Maureen's name (Phoenix/Jean Grey had killed Xavier earlier in the movie)

It lasted maybe 1-2min and was done to give the indication that Xavier was not truly dead.
