Arnold Drake, veteran comic book writer, passed away in the early morning of March 12, 2007. Drake may be best known to comic book and animation fans as the creator of the Doom Patrol for DC Comics. Doom Patrol introduced the character Beast Boy, who became far better known when he migrated to the New Teen Titans comic book, and then as one of the five original members of the team on the Teen Titans animated TV show. The Doom Patrol guest-starred in several episodes of the show's last season, revealing Beast Boy's earlier affiliation with the team.

Drake also worked on Marvel's X-Men, and created DC's Deadman and Stanley and His Monster. He was the co-writer of It Rhymes with Lust in 1950, which is one of several works cited as the first graphic novel.
