Anti-toon bigotry will apparently keep Papa Smurf from claiming the 29th supervisory district in Wisconsin's Dodge county.

The Fond du Lac Reporter relays that the Smurf patriarch was one of four candidates to receive a write-in vote for the position. As there were no other candidates on the ballot, and as no write-in candidate received more than one vote, a drawing of lots will determine which candidate will receive the seat.

County Clerk Karen Gibson, however, has limited the drawing to the three non-toon candidates. The newspaper gave no reason for the exclusion of the fictional but otherwise presumably qualified Smurf.
