Variety is reporting that there is still no deal in place for the voice talent of The Simpsons, meaning that the 20th season of the show may only have 20 episodes instead of 22. Production of the show has been on hold for months, and if a deal is not struck soon, the number of episodes in the season may drop even further. However, many close to the negotiations are "optimistic that they're on the road to a new deal," with one stating that a deal may be struck as early as this week. Reportedly, the show leads make $360,000 an episode and are seeking closer to $500,000 an episode, bringing them in-line with many live-action sitcom stars.
