i would imagine you would be safe with verbatim. CMC is on the whole crappy.

In the UK, Verbatim 8x DVD-R (25-pack retail spindle) could be RITEKG05 media. Or TYG02 media on those "multi color" spindles. Some of them are still trusty old MCC02RG20.

The TDK DVD+R stuff you mention will be 3rd class media, not good stuff. There will be coasters, without a doubt. How many depends on burn speed and your burner.
