Im asking a question for a friend. he as recorded a movie thats raw file is 12 or 13 GB in size the mpeg2 file. What can he do to down convert it to 4.7 so he can put it onto a dvd. he will now change settings that record at 4-8 gb instead but he needs to be able to change this file as the movie might not air again. all burning/authoring programs wont support it.

Thanks

1. Split it to multiple discs.
2. Re-encode (do not "shrink") the file with an MPEG encoder, to a smaller size.

If the movie is rare, the first option might be best.
