I got tired of looking at the crappy version, so I spent several hours today laying out the new site logo, layout, color scheme, menu content and CSS code.
We'll be ready to roll on this come August, I think.
Nope, did it today!
The old television is from a little model in kctexan's house. Perfect iconic TV set from days gone by. I tried to play homage to a little of something for everybody. A Smurf for myself, Power Rangers for the kiddie live-action fans, Pokemon for the anime fans, Dragnet for the crime and B&W fans, the original Enterprise for sci-fi fans, the Batsignal for you 60s TV fans, Spiderman for the superhero-toon fans, Starscream for the robot/toon fans, Lone Ranger for you western and B&W fans, Raphael for the TMNT fans. Tapes, CDs, DVDs, laying around the old TV set. Preserving a little bit of everybody's favorite TV.
I played with 20 different shades of purple, but none of them seemed to really fit well with our content. So blue it stays, although I've tossed in some red at top, and made the blue a little less drab.
That blackened area under the menu is supposed to be TV snow.
Yes, Facebook and Twitter, this site will be Facebooking and Tweeting.
Yes, there are ads spots at the top of all pages. The site has to be paid for somehow. Donations alone will not be able to support the new software, server and features being used in the future. But it's not crap ads, it's going to be ads we select and find useful (Amazon, DVD sales, etc). The right smaller ad is an in-house spot, for calling attention to our own content (or content at allaboutduncan's SRU).
It's not implemented yet, need to make sure nothing was forgotten, must review TVP planning notes.
Thought some of you may find the update interesting!
