Didnt they do this some years ago:

Bandai Entertainment has issued a press release warning anime fandom against illegal fansubs and pirated copies of their titles, focusing on the upcoming Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society. The statement was issued due to several fan sites publicly declaring their intent to distribute fansubs of Solid State Society after it is released in Japan.
