In 1978, NBC began airing The Godzilla Power Hour, a Hanna-Barbera produced series featuring Godzilla cartoons and Jana of the Jungle as well. Ted Cassidy ("Lurch" of The Addams Family) voiced the 300-foot-tall lizard. As time went on, the length and format of the show was adjusted as Godzilla 'toons were teamed up with not only Jana but with Jonny Quest in the Godzilla Power 90, then Godzilla went solo for a bit, then with the Super Globetrotters, then with Dynomutt and Funky Phantom, then finally with Hong Kong Phooey before going solo again at the end of his original animated run.

Now Classic Media Inc. along with distributors Sony Music, similar to their release of the animated King Kong last November, are planning to release Hanna-Barbera's Godzilla on DVD this summer, in two separate volumes. Both Volume 1 and Volume 2 are up for pre-order at Amazon.com with a June 6th release date. List price is $12.98 each, but Amazon discounts each 90-minute item to $8.99 if you place your advance order now.
