I have to say that Death Note is one the greatest anime's ever.

I just watch episode 25 and was floored. HOLY SH***TTT.
This show rocks!! No wonder America wants to make a live action series out of it.

You have to see this anime.

Interesting! I personally have never liked anime because of all the Pokemen, yogemen, blah,blah,blah, may be I need to take another look.

I don't know what your exact tastes are, but I find Trigun and Cowboy Bebop to be popular to pretty much anybody. They'd be good to start with, and each one is only 26 episodes, a small investment in time.
