France is seeing a local boom in animation production, with half a dozen animated features planned and employment in the sector rising by 72% in the past two years, Variety reports.

Projects in production range from sequels to Luc Besson's Arthur and the Invisibles to a new project from Triplettes de Belleville director Sylvain Chomet. Many of the new films use traditional animation, but at least one 3D picture, Rock the Boat, is also in production.
