I have a PS3 60 GB system because it's backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games. However, the 60 GB hard drive may eventually not be enough space for me. I heard that I can replace the hard drive with any compatible hard drive I want. Can someone with experience with this tell me the best, fastest, and largest capacity hard drive compatible with the PS3. I did a little research on the Internet about this and I got several different answers. I was hoping someone with experience with this could give me a definite answer.

There's also the matter of copying the files to the new hard drive. There's an option for backing up and restoring data on the PS3 but what about the PS3 operating system? Does that back up the operating system as well?

There was a PS3 Magazine backissue only a couple months old that went into detail on how to do this step by step, told you which hard drive to buy and how to carry the files over and all. Not sure what month the issue was but I know I saw it within the past month or two.

When you get your PS3 modded over with the new harddrive and all let me know if it works and all ok. Might be something I would be interested in down the road. I can't see getting a PS3 that isn't backwards compatible and from what I've heard there going for big bucks on ebay.

It will probably be quite a while until I install a new hard drive.
