Ok, I did the tutorial on digitalfaq with dvd decrypter and mpegvcr to take the files from the dvd I had from my dvd recorder to my computer and edit out the commercials. But, I cannot play back the mpeg2 files after all is done. They open in mpegvcr, but they don't open in any other program. When I try to use other programs, it freezes my computer for a few seconds.

Any help please?

when you save it and it ask's you to put in a name, put in one word no spaces or just one number,
try it, but i have had no sleep in 3 days so i may be wrong.

How are you saving? Use the little red save button shown on the guide. It's on the window.

If you go FILE -> SAVE AS, you're making some other kind of file, a project file.

And then be sure you're using a good newer version.

Be sure to check the filesize of the file you are saving, see if it has a size, not 0kb.

When you save a MPEG file that is edited, the new file pops up. If the file does not pop up, then you've got one of those buggy versions from a few years back. Although I need to say that error only tends to happen on effects editing, not simply removing commercials.

Also, when you save the new file, name it "whatevername.MPG" and not "whatevername.VOB"

I did exactly what the guide said. I pressed the little red button. The files are around 200mb each, give or take a few. When you say pops up, you mean in a new window right? Because that is what happens.

200MB each? That sounds a bit small.
How long are these shows? What recording mode? What recorder?

Oh they are 7 minute cartoon shorts, like looney tunes. 2hr mode on the pioneer from walmart.
Also, the volume seems to be lower than my originals.

BTW, I converted them into mpg4 files for my psp and they play fine as mpg4 on my pc and on my PSP. It's just those dang mpeg2's I'm having trouble with.
