I have used Wax, Vegas Pro- a few other.

Anyone have an opinion on an easy to use edit program for video (all sources, mainly avi) for simple fixes- rotation, hissing, etc..

for home videos

AVI = VirtualDub 1.9 or Premiere CS3+
MPEG = Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD 4
Audio (hissing) = Audacity + Sound Forge 9+
