I borrowed the new Night Stalker DVD set from someone and everytime I try and rip it, the program freezes (on 2 different computers). Is this a new kind of Copy Protection? Is there a program that can rip this set?

Its probably a variation of the ARccOs scheme, sounds like it anyway

You can read more about it here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARccOS_Protection

You can usually defeat this with AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter v2.9.6.6, on the Mac side us MactheRipper

I ve used slysoft clone dvd on most of the new dscs. No problems here .

Or rip with DVDFAB then shrink.

All else fails. Just make a dsc image.

AnyDVD is the best for encryption! I believe it is made from Slysoft too. You get a free 2 or 3 week trial with ANyDVD and Clone DVD2, so you might want to try it out. They really are getting serious with some of the crap they are putting on the DVDs now. You might want to see if you can rip it with DVD Decryptor to your harddrive and then compress it.
