one for you video tech bods.

check out these images. 3 different dvd releases.





do we agree that shot 1 shows most on all sides?
and shot 2 seems the sharpest?

right, now onto my question.

why do we get such variations?

if it was between a 4:3 version and a 16:9 version i would understand.

but in this case, all have been released as 2.35:1 or thereabouts.

if the negative/film was actually, say, 2.20:1, then why not make the dvd 2.20:1?

why go to all the trouble of making a dvd release and then cropping the final image?

any ideas people?

Thats interesting, usually you dont have that many variations. I wonder if the source was the same for all 3 or if one company did a new transfer (thus having more or less in the pic)

What movie is it?

Then again, you could have a back to the future issue. That was so much of a hassle, I decided to just pretend my discs were okay.
